As the Principal of Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya, it is delightful to send this message at the re-launch of the official website of the school.

Being one of the leading Buddhist girls’ schools, Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya is located in a busy suburb, Kiribathgoda. Anybody who enters the school, first gets the glimpse of the statue of princess Viharamahadevi who is the epitome of wisdom, courage and virtue. The school has come a long journey since 1977 through numerous changes, innovations and many victories. Starting with only 7 students and a handful of teachers, the school can be proud of what she has achieved within this journey of four decades. With her motto of ‘Virtue, Wisdom and courage’, the girls have excelled themselves in both academic and extra curricular activities bringing grace and honor to the school. Veheradevians have proved their excellence in many other fields as well. Many girls have brought us victories in the field of sports, both in the local and international arena. We are so proud of their academic performances in the national exams. I am very proud to state that our girls have been very sensitive to the environmental issues and have contributed a lot to the society by conducting workshops and doing various projects to save the environment. Further, the girls have been involved in organizing various health awareness programmes through the Health Club. They have taken the initiative of introducing and promoting healthy food among the students through a special stall. The Photographic Club of the school has organized the first ever film festival to be organized by a school in Sri Lanka. They also won the first place in the competition, for their film ‘Avera Sewaneli’. I believe that the school should be able to cater to the needs of the society and the girls are doing it to the best of their ability. Hence, they would be able to face the new challenges of the society and find way to success. In molding their personalities, the school provides them with the necessary opportunities paving the way for their talents. With the vision ‘To be the best among the best’, we are going to make all impossible, possible.
